Overview

About this journey

Coming back soon... Jordan is known to many for its hidden city of Petra and swimming in the Dead Sea, but there's so much more to see! On a Jordan vacation with Arabian Adventure, you'll travel the country independently. You can travel by rental car through the mountainous landscapes along the King's Road, or let a private driver take you to the ruins of Jerash, the pilgrimage citadel of Al-Kerak, or Mount Nebo, where you'll see the Promised Land as Moses saw it. If you have more time, include additional destinations in your itinerary, like the adventurous Wadi Mujib or the Dana Nature Park, where you can enjoy a beautiful hike. We have extensive travel experience, know unique places, and prioritize privacy, authenticity, and comfort during your trip. Our Jordan tours begin in the capital, Amman. From Amman, you travel to southern Jordan, where your journey typically ends in Aqaba. Along the way, you'll see mosaics, minarets, and mysterious chapels. You'll stroll through Jordan's largest nature reserve, swim in the Dead Sea, and, of course, see the wonder of the world – Petra. Arabian Adventure will arrange the most convenient transportation for you . You can explore the country by rental car, bus, or private driver. Travel with a private driver During the tour, you'll be accompanied by a private driver who will show you the country's most beautiful sights. We personally find this a very pleasant way to travel, as you don't have to pay attention to the road and can fully enjoy the impressive surroundings. Furthermore, the Jordanian driver knows a lot about their country and can tell you a lot (in English) about its culture and attractions. To become a driver in the Jordanian tourism industry, you must complete training and hold a diploma. Our local agent always checks this, so you don't have to worry about your driver taking you to the wrong place. Traveling by rental car – advantages: ● You travel in your own rental car ● You have complete freedom to choose where you want to sit and relax ● You can sip fresh mint tea whenever you feel like it ● You can visit the Citadel in Amman at your own pace ● You can combine Mount Nebo and the mosaics in Madaba with swimming in the Dead Sea ● You can discover the wonder of the world – Petra on your own or you can hire a guide ● You will spend the night in a tent in the vast Wadi Rum desert ● You will relax on the surface and under the water of the Red Sea in Aqaba Traveling around Jordan in a rental car on your own is also a pleasant way that gives you complete freedom. The main roads are very well paved, and destinations are clearly marked. With Arabian Adventure, you travel individually, with your own group. We will prepare the best routes for you, giving you many opportunities to tailor your trip to Jordan to your wishes. An extra night here, a tour, or nothing? Whatever you want! Itinerary

Day 1 | ARRIVE IN Amman

Arrival in Amman. Your journey to Jordan begins in the capital, Amman. Amman is a modern city built on seven hills, yet you'll experience its exotic charm everywhere: the scents of spices, women in colorful headscarves, the sounds of horns. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred from the airport to your hotel. Our hotels in Amman boast a modern design. Your room is comfortable and air-conditioned. A good breakfast is always included. Depending on your arrival time, in Amman, you can stroll the streets of the small souks, grab your first falafel sandwich on a street corner, climb the steps of the Roman theater, which seats up to 6,000 and was carved into the hillside in the 2nd century AD, or explore the impressive Citadel, located on the city's highest hill. Due to its location, the Citadel offers fantastic views of Amman. You can also relax in the Hammam and, after a traditional steam treatment, enjoy delicious mint tea.

Day 2 |

Continue your tour of Amman and visit Jerash. From Amman, you can visit Jerash – one of the most important trading cities of Roman times, which has been remarkably well-preserved. Once you leave the city behind, the white houses give way to a fertile, green landscape dotted with cypresses and olive groves. The ancient city of Jerash is situated on a hill. If you'd like to explore the city with a local guide, let us know and we'll arrange it for you.

Day 3 |

A Journey to the Mosaic City of Madaba. Today you'll leave Amman and embark on a solo journey of discovery across Jordan. But first, we need to collect your car. Our driver will take you to the airport for a car rental. Of course, you can also go to the car rental office in Amman itself, but in our opinion, driving in Amman is quite a challenge. Furthermore, you have a wider selection of rental cars at the airport than in the city. Once the contract is signed and your suitcases are in the trunk, it's time to hit the road. The roads are good (though there are a few potholes here and there). In less than an hour, you'll reach Madaba, a small provincial town. You'll spend the night just outside the city center, but within walking distance. After check-in, you can sit on the rooftop terrace or cool off in the pool. You can also take a walk to St. George's Church and Madaba Archaeological Park. Here, you can admire the colorful mosaics, which were only rediscovered in the early 19th century. The mosaic on the floor of St. George's Church is a striking example of a mosaic on the floor of Madaba. George's Church displays the oldest map of Palestine, a road map of the Holy Land. Then stroll through the center and enjoy dates and figs, fresh mint tea, or freshly squeezed orange juice while sitting on a stool by the sidewalk.

Day 4 |

Through Mount Nebo and the Dead Sea to Petra. Travel time: approximately 4 hours, daily distance 250 kilometers. Enjoy breakfast at a restaurant or on the terrace of your hotel, then hop in the car and continue your journey. You'll travel from one site to the next, giving you a full day to see everything at your own pace. About a fifteen-minute drive from Madaba is Mount Nebo. In ancient times, Moses gazed upon the Promised Land after 40 years of wandering. As you climb to the top of Mount Nebo, you'll see olive trees to your left and right, and once you reach the summit, a stark desert landscape unfolds before your eyes. From here, you can see the biblical city of Jericho, and on a clear day, you can even see Jerusalem on the horizon. From Mount Nebo, another attraction, the Dead Sea, is a half-hour drive away. The Dead Sea is one of the most remarkable natural phenomena in the Middle East. About 1.5 million years ago, the ocean still existed here. The earthquake formed the Jordan Valley, and in the lower areas, lakes and a sea formed. The climate in this valley is so extremely hot and dry that most of the water evaporated, leaving behind salt and minerals. And so the Dead Sea was created. This name comes from the fact that no animals can live in this water due to its 33% salt content. You can easily purchase a one-day ticket at one of the resorts. Float on the water with a book, without an air mattress, and refresh your skin with the mud from this natural spa. Want to spend another day at a luxurious Dead Sea resort? Let us know, and we'll plan that extra day for you. After swimming in the Dead Sea, you'll head to the wonder of the world – Petra. If you arrive on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday, opt for the Petra night tour first, and then explore Petra itself the next morning. You'll see Petra in the dark and admire the beautiful light show. However, this is only possible on specific days. You'll spend the night in Petra at a hotel near the entrance. This means you'll be among the first to arrive the next morning. Restaurants and small shops are a short walk away.

Day 5 |

Petra. When the magnificent temple facades of Petra, a desert city built of red rock, appear at the end of a narrow cliff , you feel nothing but profound amazement and wonder. It's no wonder Petra has been named one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This vast, hidden city hides dozens of attractions, and you could easily spend an entire day here. Go to the viewpoint at the top of the Treasury, climb the 800 steps to the monastery, and don't forget to look around along the way. Because, in our opinion, if you take the time to admire Petra's lesser-known sites, you'll experience this rock city much more intensely. To have plenty of time and avoid the crowds, we recommend setting off very early (opening at 6 a.m.). You'll spend two nights at a hotel in Wadi Musa, just a short walk from the entrance to Petra. The road leading to the entrance is like a magical gateway to another time and another world.

Day 6 |

To the Wadi Rum Desert. Driving distance: approximately 2 hours. Today, you'll head south into Jordan. Your surroundings become increasingly yellowish-red and drier as you approach the desert. Boulders dot the sandy plains, and small settlements dot the road. Wadi Rum is a colorful, eroded rock landscape with its own unique flora and fauna. Upon arrival, park your car at the visitor center. Here, you'll pay the entrance fee. You'll then proceed to the village, where you'll park your car and meet your guide. Together with your guide, you'll set off in a four-wheel drive vehicle to explore the desert. Important! Bring a backpack with all the essentials you'll need for an overnight stay in the desert. It can get very cold at night, so keep this in mind. A flashlight is helpful. But first, adventure awaits: a hike through the canyon, enjoying fresh tea in a Bedouin tent, snowboarding across the red sand, and admiring the most beautiful sunset of your life from a rock. Then, you'll head to camp for the evening. In the evening, you'll be served an exceptionally delicious meal—meat simmered deep in the soft sand in special sealed pots. You'll stay overnight in your own Bedouin tent, in a secluded spot in the middle of the desert. Beds are provided with clean bedding, sheets, and duvets. You'll share shower and toilet facilities with other travelers. As dusk falls, the Bedouins sing their traditional songs, and a bonfire is lit. All you have to do is look up, covered in a blanket, to see the stunning starry sky. The next morning, you'll be driven back to your vehicle.

Day 7 |

The coastal city of Aqaba. Travel distance: approximately 1.5 hours. Your hotel is conveniently located by the sea, near Aqaba city center and less than a 10- minute walk from the beach. Spend the day at the beach or strolling around the city. Relax and explore the colorful underwater world of the Red Sea near Aqaba to complete your Jordanian trip.
